Can't drag photos to Photoshop any more

Just upgraded to Photos...

I used to be able to select a bunch of photos in iPhoto and drag them down to the Photoshop icon in my dock and Photoshop would open all the photos.

This is no longer working since I upgraded to Photos.

Any ideas?? I do NOT want to have to export them first - that is too time consuming. Just want to drag and open.

Thank you

Photos-OTHER, OS X Yosemite (10.10.3), Photoshop CS5

I agree that External Editor for Photos is a very useful app - even if some of the applications don't send the files back where you would want them. (Perfect Resize 9 by One1 Software tries to put the file back I guess in the Photos Library, but it doesn't replace the original and I will be ****** if I can find it afterwards. Ended up using it as a stand alone because then I can control where it finds the photos and where it puts them back. But I would assume that is a fault in Perfect Resize and not External Editor.)

But would like to read the "tips" that you make reference to in your posts, but the link does not work. Thanks.

I don't think this is correct about the file that gets dragged and dropped. I just "dragged" two JPEGs from Photos to my desktop and the photos on the desktop are both the same size as the ones in Photos. Perhaps you are referring to someone who uses the "maximize space" on their computer because then you only have the minimized version actually in place on the computer's hard drive. (But since if you want to edit one of these minimized photos, iCloud will automatically download the full resolution image, I would assume it does the same when dragging and dropping.)

Speaking strictly of dragging Photos directly from iPhoto to Photoshop to open and edit, it doesn't seem to matter if you are working with an edited photo or not. I've tried dragging photos download directly from my camera and they wouldn't open. It seems that it will either work or it won't. After about a week or so of having to save to the desktop before I could open in Photoshop, the direct drag to Photoshop is finally working again. I'm not sure what might cause these issues, but OSX and Adobe Photoshop are both so complex these days, it could be anything. Have the most current versions of both seems to be the best answer.

Until Adobe updates PS for Darg and drop with OS X 10.10.3 your choices are to use the media browser in PS or to export to the desktop and edit form there

And if you are using PS to edit rather that Photo I would think you would want to start with the highest quality original which is not necessarily what you get with drag and drop - with export you have totally control of the quality of the starting image

I have the same problem, cos I just recently upgraded my OS to Yosemite. With iPhoto before I can just drag and drop / command+c the original copy of the image. With Photos app now I only get half the quality when I drag and drop, thumb copy when I command+c. and as mentioned I can't drag the photo to photoshop. Is there a way I can drag and drop the original copy? it's just soooo time consuming to use the export.

This solution is very confusing to me. Photoshop does support drag and drop. Photos does not. I cannot drag and drop from Photos to Preview. It seem just about the only place i can drag from Photos is to finder. Why again is this an adobe problem? Fix this apple. Many of my clients are holding off on Yosemite because they don't like Photos. Apple must remember that they support computers and aren't just a phone company. You are dropping the ball on OS X and your software!

I'm sorry - this question is answered - if you have a new question for the volunteer users here please start a new thread giving specifics for your system and problem

And if you or your clients do not like PHotos then the intelligent thing to do is to use other software that you or they do like - that is what free choice is all aboutPhotos
