Call History showing up on another iPhone

Hi,

Hopefully you can help.

I use my phone for business and we have noticed in the last few days that all of the calls I make and receive are appearing in my wife's iPhone recent call history?

I have hunted high and low in settings on both phones but with no joy.

It is only affecting calls i make, not the other way round? so i am not seeing calls my wife makes on her phone in my recent call history?

[Re-Titled by Moderator]

It is also not affecting text messages...

We are both using the same iCloud account but the inconsistencies above suggest its something more involved (or very simple!)

The slightly odd thing is that it only seems to do it when my phone is at home, i went out this afternoon and the calls made/received have not appeared on her history. so maybe its a wifi thing?...but...

I also phoned vodafone when i got home to see if they could help (they couldn't!) and that short dial number is also not appearing on her history?

I've had the same problem. Just found a setting under Phone that says Calls On Other Devices. It was on. Turned it off and will see if the problem is resolved.

Very irritating setting. Why would you want to do this?

This exactly same thing started happening at random with my and my husbands phones. All the detailed settings are checked appropriately for our phones,etc... Getting random phone logs and random text messages to both our phones and we can be across the country from one another. We share an apple ID because our household shares the calendar, music, and apps.... He gets my entire call log and I get his and some random text messages go through? Weird and not consistent?

My thoughts exactly. I have multiple devices and multiple family members sharing them which are children. They are not getting their own apple IDs. I can't keep track of all of that. We have one apple ID for two phones, three iPads and two apple computers. Out of all of that our entire family uses it all with one apple ID. The only problem is our two phones are randomly sharing call logs and text messages even thought the right numbers are checked in the selection box... This error is not happening on our other devices. It just happening on our iPhone 6's and it can be when we are across the country from one another. Irritating.

EXACTLY. USE ONE ID PER USER. YOU CRACKED THE CODE!

As of right now Apple ID and iCloud work EXACTLY as they're supposed to. There are documents and articles telling you to use ONE apple ID PER PERSON. You can use a shared Apple ID for iTunes Store reasons, but it's not recommended, and you CAN NOT use a shared iCloud account without having a problem with sharing information between devices, as all devices that are signed in to the same iCloud account are designed to offer one continuous experience for one person.

That's the way it works. End of story. End of argument. Stop it. You need to be able to track each individual human for licensing purposes for the purchases made. You can dislike the way it works, but it is simply the way it works. If you find a different service that works better for you, awesome! Do the thing. This is not a bug, this is not a problem with the code. This is everything working as it's supposed to work and offering people that sign in to their iCloud to have a seamless experience.

Stop looking for a "Fix". This is EXPECTED BEHAVIOR.

I disagree. We have used 3 phones, 2 iPads & 1 Mac using the same Apple ID & iCloud account for

at least 2 years. Never a problem before. Only issue now is recent calls from 1 phone showing up on all 3.

No other issues. Otherwise, it works perfectly. All devices managed by 1 Apple ID account, all devices backed up

to 1 iCloud account, each device set up to back up only what's nended for its purpose. The recent calls issue is new & only issue(well, not so new anymore).

I do have the same problems. Call list from one iPhone on the other iPhone one way.

Because it is one way, no one should say, this is a feature a feature and I have to split my IDs.

Because it worked in the past with seperate call lists and this happens only sometimes, no one should say, this is a feature a feature and I have to split my IDs.

Because I want to share findmyiphone, contacts, calendar, icloud sharing of different apps, of the same ID, ...

HandOff is turned off, usage of cell phone on different devices as well.

So Apple, this is really an anoying bug. Just fix it or put an Option for this "sharing" in the Settings for the user, who really want this. But then it should work all the time and not only sometimes and it should work in both directions and not only one way. => strange bug.

Dear Kilted Tim, you are not contributing. We all know that you don't like people sharing IDs. This is not even about that. Some of us have several devices (all our own) with SIM cards from different countries, each for its own purpose. I will not create a separate ID for each of my devices because it makes no sense.

There is clearly a bug. It appears at random, for mixed calls on mixed devices, with no pattern whatsoever.

Please let people use the Apple service in the way it suits them. Your way does not suit everybody. You should finally accept this and stop continuously repeating the same empty sentence because it doesn't help anyone and certainly not this forum. This is a technical forum, not an opinion forum.

It is not a matter of what I like or don't like. It's a matter of Apple's documented statements on the matter.

It is NOT a bug. Sharing an ID is a violation of Apple's documented statements on the sharing of iCloud IDs.

That is the CORRECT technical answer. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean it isn't true.

If people want to use the service in ways that violate or contradict Apple's instructions on the matter, then the results of doing so are not problems that can be fixed here.

As you said, this is a technical support forum, not an opinion forum. If you don't want to follow the documentation, then go complain about the results somewhere else.

Kilted Tim - I repeat what I just said. I am not sharing Apple IDs. I have several devices of MY OWN with SIM cards each from different countries. (which are ALL FOR ME - I AM ONE PERSON!) Would you expect me to create 7 x Apple IDs for myself? Is this the correct way Tim?

And I repeat once again, recent calls list being repeat, at random, between different devices, at random, with no pattern, is a Bug.

No question this "feature" is buggy. Perhaps it works as intended, if so, apparently this is a feature where you have no option but to use and love it because it's Apple and they simply never mess up. There is no way to effectively turn off this "feature", you must share all your recent calls (correction, random recent calls with random devices on same ID) you are forced to use it in this manner and can not disable the silly feature of sharing call logs on all devices (regardless of number used), this sure sounds like a home-run for Apple here folks. If this kind of functionality is intended to not be optional here, keyword OPTIONAL, (Note: I don't ever want to share my recent calls with all my devices that use different numbers, so don't force me to), then I will begin to pare down my Apple inventory.

Regarding this being a user forum, not Apple. Most of us came here to see what was going on. All of a sudden our devices worked in a "buggy" and non-intuitive way. Some came to see if there was an option to change in settings, you know because we don't need or want this "feature" on.

I simply turned off icloud and this buggy feature (and its non-sense) is GONE!

I personally, don't get that much from icloud anyway at this point and it's a good excuse to wean off of it, I won't manage multiple ID's for my family and our many Apple devices, it makes no sense for us as users. Those of us who have families need a simple way to manage our devices without having to enter multiple ID's and passwords every time a parent approves of an app or needs to backup devices, etc., it can be a pain dealing with just one ID! Keep in mind, I basically own all the devices my family uses, that's how it works until they're on their own (and can manage their own devices AND finances). Of course this is a non-issue for families that spend their money in other ways, on other products, that may actually have forums where people try to be helpful rather than snarky and authoritarian.
