How to use time capsule for backup service only

Today, my ISP installed a new cable to provide me with a very fast internet connection and this required a new modem/router to handle the faster speed.

I connected the TimeCapsule to the new router using an ethernet cable. The amber light continues to blink.

I only need my TimeCapsule (1T) now to backup my MackBook Pro.

Using airport utility, how do I change the setup for the time capsule so that it will connect to the new router, continues backing up my files? Hopefully once it is properly set up, it will display a green continuously.

OH that explains the number of problems I am having- Some are related to the router itself (Netgear) of course but I did not know these about Yosemite.

my TC backup to the external drive will take a while. It will give me time to get away from this all before I "kill" this computer.
