Preview slow to scroll and beach balls frequently in Yosemite.

Preview is extremely slow when navigating content and frequently 'beach balls' when scrolling or zooming content. Its so frustrating. Whats even more frustrating is if you 'quick look' the same document it works so well and fluid. Quickly puts Preview to shame. WHY?!?! Apple - you need to fix this please. In a paperless world we need to be able to navigate PDFs and other documents without out waiting for Preview to 'catch up' ever time we make a movement.

This really started in Mavericks and I posted it there too. We are on the cusp of 10.11 and I surely hope that Apple fixes preview.

Its not just my computer - we have several Macs in the office and they are all doing the same thing with a variety of documents and document types. PDF's especially.

Hello

This is the consequence how OSX since Maverick manages previews, unfortunately. For each update I pray Apple to do something !

You have 2 "quick" solutions to have something better :

1 - go to application folder > properties of Preview > choose "start in low definition" > close properties.
However, on a Retina display, it won't be very pleasent, but it can help.

2 - reduce the definition of the PDF files ("save as" apply a quartz filter (or manage them by yourself))

Apple doesn’t routinely monitor the discussions. These are mostly user to user discussions.

Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.

I am experiencing very slow scrolling and zooming pdf files generated o autocad (Autodesk), for all other files like pdf text, raw images, jpg images preview is very fast and smooth, but autocad layout pdfs are very bad. Downloaded Adobe Acrobat and it is running much better than Preview for these type of files. I just wanted to use 1 app for pdf files, not 2 or 3 for different things. Funny thing is quick look is very fast and smooth with the same file. WWWHHHYYY?

I couldn't find this. My preview preferences doesn't show this kind of option

Thanks dude, but this didn't solve my problem, loading in low resolution stills lag and looks terrible. Try scrolling in to this file and you will now what I a talking about
