Heart rate stops working during a workout

I'm interested in knowing if anyone else is having this problem, or if it's just me.

While doing a workout, I have the Workout app on the heart rate screen so that I can monitor it. It starts off fine, showing my heart rate, but after a few minutes, it seems to stop working. Again after a few minutes it starts working again, but of course my average heart rate for the workout is way below what it should be. Here is an example:

- I start an "Other" workout, with the watch on the heart rate screen.

- My heart rate climbs to 145 bpm.

- 4-5 minutes into the workout, the heart rate starts displaying something crazy, like 68 bpm.

- It stays there for about 3-4 minutes, then it seems to wake up and jumps back up to the 140's again.

- This keeps on happening during my workout, with the result of having an average heart rate of 105 or something like that.

Has anyone else seen this? Or could somebody test if so inclined?

Thanks for any help!

I was complaining about the support with all these reasons but eventually what helped me was to tighten it a bit more using a nike style bracelet (not really comfortable but at least working, can't get it right with other bracelets) then to wear it a bit higher, right after the wrist bone. Only during workouts of course. I think moving the arm while running coupled with sweat causes the malfunctioning.

It does that for me too. When I do interval workouts on the treadmill I wear the Scosche Rhythm+ arm band with MotiFit on my iPhone, which track the grip pulse sensor on the treadmill very closely. The watch is usually in the ballpark, but dropouts to a unrealistically low rate are common. OTOTH, the previous version of the Rhythm band used to do the same thing. I'm hoping to see the Watch improve over time, with newer software and improved hardware.

Update ,

After following advise from apple support

Resetting the watch

calibrating it by running outside for 20 mins with the watch and the iPhone together .

The next day i went for a 90 mins workout and my heart rate sensor was excellent , i had not issues any more and it was registering all the way .

Problem solved ! hope this never happens again !

Its a great feeling !

I noticed also that when my heart rate sensor is working my calorie estimation is more accurate !
