iPhone photos not showing on PC

I don't know how many different ways I can say this: Windows Explorer is not the right tool. It will only see ONE of the many DCIM folders. You can browse with it to the others, and that will work, sort of, but it isn't the right way to do it.

I hear you about Windows Explorer, but what I'm saying is that my photos do NOT show up in the camera wizard which is not for viewing photos but for installing devices anyway. My device IS installed. I have tried the automatic import images feature but that also misses some of the files. Can you give me specific directions of how to do what you are suggesting to see ALL of the images? What program should I open? How do I get to it. I have plugged in my iPhone and tried using every step you mentioned this far, but no images.

I echo what TitoMcDougal says - thank you SO much for taking the time to follow up with an answer!!! Your solution worked perfectly for me and there's no way I would have ever figured that out. I spent quite awhile trying to figure out what was wrong and would have never thought about the Optimize Photos setting.

I also agree that the iCloud download process is pretty cumbersome, but I now have all of the filed on my PC. It was worth the effort.

Thank you!!! After spending the last two hours trying (unsuccessfully!) to follow others advice I luckily cam across your reply. This helped me right away. I went straight to icloud.com because, as you mentioned, it is difficult to access icloud from the downloadable version apple offers. Online, it worked great. THANK YOU!

Yes! i found the same issue with mu iphone 6 which is 10.1 and icloud storage 200GB ( monthly Subscription) but sadly i cannot still retrieve my 5000+ pictures on i cloud library. it seems you have seleted "Optimize photo's" from icloud photo library which can see only low resolution pictures and original will be stored on icloud.

the only solution will be directly download from icloud.com or else you can install icloud to pc.

That sounds like an excellent solution, and it works the way Apple designed it to work. If you use iCloud Photos your images appear on your computer almost instantly after they have been taken.

I do have another obstacle: I can't find a way to download appx 500 photos from Icloud to my laptop. It doesn't allow me to select all of them, but seemingly only one at a time. (I'm using Google Chrome on a Dell laptop; I have Windows 7 which was reinstalled after my Windows 10 crashed.) I may be missing something obvious - this is not my area of expertise...

Almost three years later, it happened to me (I'm guessing at the last update). Thank you for sharing this answer. It's actually quicker for me to pull the photos off iCloud (rather than find the phone, plug it in, pull up the folders, etc.), so I'll leave the settings and pull from there going forward.

So you are saying that you have never imported any of the photos that are in the Camera Roll? Are you using Photo Stream, or iCloud Photos?

What do you mean by "use the camera and scanners wizard"? I went to my cameras and scanners wizard and it shows my iPhone but doesn't do anything else.
