AMD Radeon R9 M370X Struggling to play games (i.e. GTA V) - bootcamp

Hello I am running bootcamp with windows 8.1 pro.

I have the latest retina Macbook pro (mid-2015) with AMD Radeon R9 M370X graphics, with 2.8 ghz processor and 16 gb of ram.

it's completely maxed out spec-wise, yet it struggles in bootcamp, for games.

I haven't been able to try it with other games, but with GTA V it is really struggling, it lags, even when the lowest resolution settings are on, and is next to unplayable.

Is this what I should expect with my maxed out macbook? Or is there another issue that maybe causing this.

Thanks in advance!

Things I have tried:

- Update graphics drivers, (which windows says its up to date) but I'm unsure if it is or not.

Man, I don't know what are you taking about.

I Play at 1920-1200 at recommended settings and have 30-40 fps.(r9m370x)

And if you have some knowledge about resolution and gpu, you will understand that if you make higher resolution, it does not give you higher fps, it will give you lower fps.

so if you telling that you play at 2880-1800 at higher settings at 60 fps on this gpu(r9m370x), you're lying.

Hello Loner T,

I've been trying to boost performance on this game (GTA 5) for quite a while now, I have successfully installed the latest AMD drivers (the ones that will give the "no hardware detected" errors), following the precedures on this post, and trying a lot of different settings on both the AMD Radeon settings and GTA 5 settings, but I have gotten no improvement on frames.

Do you have any suggestions for this?

Thanks.

Same here ! I had horrible performances with the same a macbook pro retina 2015 and the r9 m370x while playing games in windows 10.

The fix was the power plan settings in windows 10. I couldn't believe it (I believe the games were running on the intel Iris card instead of the m370x ?!?). Simply follow the tutorial here:

I hope this helps you, it definitely cured my worries 🙂
