Brand new Mac book air - keyboard backlight not working, F5 and F6 show on screen but don't do anything. Adjust keyboard brightness checked. Any ideas? Or should I return it?

New Mac book and the keyboard backlight isn't working.

Have tried F5 F6 with and without Fn. checked adjust keyboard brightness.

Please help with any ideas? Or should I return it?

MacBook Air, OS X Yosemite (10.10.3)

Return it ASAP. You can exchange it, no questions asked, within 14 days from date of purchase. Be sure to bring your dated receipt and all packaging. Be sure to return the computer to its factory defaults: What to do before selling or giving away your Mac - Apple Support.
