Weird caps lock problem on log in screen

Hi,

I just bought a brand new MacBook Pro 13 inches (2015). It runs Yosemite (10.10.3). Everything looked perfectly fine until I shut it down after using it for the first time; when I fired it back on, I could not log in even if I knew I had the right password (I had just changed it). I soon noticed that, on the log in screen - and this only happens on the log in screen - the small icon that indicates that the caps lock is on does not follow what the light on the keyboard indicates. This was what caused my password problem; when I type it using shift for the caps, I don't have any problem. Does anyone have encountered a similar problem? I don't think it's an hardware issue since I made several tests and noticed that it only happened when trying to log in immediately after booting (and not after waking the computer or when using any app whatsoever). What could cause this? Is there a setting somewhere that could solve it?

Thank you very much!

The warranty entitles you to complimentary phone support for the first 90 days of ownership.

If you bought the product in the U.S. directly from Apple (not from a reseller), you have 14 days from the date of delivery in which to exchange or return it for a refund. In other countries, the return policy may be different. If you bought from a reseller, its return policy applies.

I know I am still on the guarantee and in the return window, but since I spent a lot of time installing all my software on it and that it looks more like a software than an hardware issue, I don't really feel like bringing it back. I could call Apple to know if they are aware of such a problem, though. You have no idea where this could come from?

Yep, I have this problem too. The workaround I do, which I assume everyone does, is to ignore the keyboard light as an indicator that CAPS LOCK is on and rely on the on-screen indicator. It sometimes takes a few presses to get the thing to recognise that I have turned caps lock on/off, but it does seem to work that. But that workaround aside, it is a very very silly problem and I would have through Apple would have fixed it by now. But then Apple isn't what is once was - turning more and more into an everyman 'boutique' brand by the day. Yet, they still do the best computers, although I am no longer sure about phones.
