Looks like no one’s replied in a while. To start the conversation again, simply ask a new question.

I have tried all the suggestions about making Photoshop Elements the default when opening jpeg files but now it defaults to Safari which is even worse. Please help.

I have tried all the suggestions regarding making Photoshop Elements 13 the default when opening jpeg files but now it goes straight to Safari which is even worse than Preview. Help please.

Hey there wdluv70,


If I understand correctly you want the default program for opening jpeg files to be Photoshop Elements 13. You should be able to do that quickly with these steps from the following article:


OS X Yosemite: Choose an app to open a file


Permanently change the app used to open a document

  1. In the Finder, select the document, then choose File > Get Info.

    You can also Control-click the document, then choose Get Info.

  2. In the Info window, click the disclosure triangle next to “Open with.”

  3. Click the pop-up menu, then choose the app.

    To open all documents of this file type with this app, click Change All.
