I have tried to transfer photo files from Nikon D7000 and also Nikon Coolpix AW120. iMac Finder does not show the camera or photo files. I prefer to transfer the files to external hard drive but can't see the files to transfer. What do I need to do to see the files? Thanks

iMac (21.5-inch, Late 2013), OS X Yosemite (10.10)

You don't need to pull the card. Simply launch Image Capture while the camera is plugged in and you can access the files from there. I've done it with Nikons before.

Nikon wants you to use their image software, which is a pretty good package, but make the files so their camera does not appear as a storage device on the Desktop. Image Capture is a one-stop fix, and it came pre-installed on your Mac.
