Numbers from millions to thousands without canging all the formulas

How do I represent numbers that are in millions into thousands after I have already built the table? Is there an automatic way to do this?

If understand you correctly you have cells that have values such as shown in the column A and you want them to instead display what's shown here in column B.

You can do the conversion by using the formula =A2×1000 in B2 and copying down the column. The select the cells, command-c to copy, select the range with the original values (in this example A2:A4) and Edit > Paste Formula Results.

Or you can use the script below to convert the values "in place", i.e. without having to set up a separate column.

  1. Copy-paste into Script Editor (in Applications > Utilities).
  2. Select the cells you want to convert (in this example A2:A4).
  3. Click the triangle 'Run' button.

Make a backup of your data before trying this, just to be sure.

tell application "Numbers"

tell document 1 to tell active sheet

set t to first table whose selection range's class is range

repeat with c in t's selection range's cells

set c's value to (c's value) * 1000

end repeat

end tell

end tell
