sharing apple ID with son

For the past year my son has been using my Apple ID for his iPad. I just created an email address for him and added it to my Apple ID account.We can facetime back and forth and imessage, etc. All I did was uncheck his email address on my iPhone and uncheck my email address on his iPad. Worked great.

I just got an iPhone 6. He is now seeing my iMessages on his iPad from other people. If I send him one, he gets two. One from me and one from himself coming from his email account. His email is unchecked on my phone and on my laptop.

Any ideas or reasons?

Simply sign out of imessage and facetime, it will then use your number instead of your Apple ID. 🙂

But I use my email address as well to FaceTime from my computers. What should i do about that?

Your problems stem from trying to use a single user system for two users. It will never work correctly and it will change even when it does. One user per account is how it is designed to be used.

Did you check the settings on his device?

And Csound1 is correct, devices are designed to have their own apple id, but it will work fine.

Just sign out as suggested and do a test text

Just a note, signing out of the apple id in your iphone in facetime and imessage, will not effect you using them
