Is there anything that has a setting to import 32 khz 12 bit video??? FCP 7 only has the option for 16 bit

I have a little video transfer business. I am not happy with the quality of my 8mm/Hi 8 when importing with just using RCA cables. I have been trying to digitally import with Firewire and my Sony DCR TRV510. It imports but about an hour in the video and audio go out of sync and by the end of 2 hours the audio is completely off. I have my capture settings for 32 16 bit but the video is 32 12bit but FCP has no options on the settings for 32 12 bit.

I have tried everything. I tried doing a passthrough capture through a DCR HC 32 to see if by some magic that would work. Nope. I tried importing through regular Quicktime, audio out of sync by the end. I thought about buying Quicktime pro but I hate to spend the $$ not knowing if it lets me set the capture settings to 12bit. I tried iMovie, audio out of sync by the end.

I've researched over the internet the past week but it seems others have the same issue I'm having. Worst case scenario is that I import about 50 minutes and then I start another import to finish up the longer tapes so the audio stays in sync. But that to me is ridiculous.

This is really frustrating and the problem could be solved I'm convinced if I could just find something that lets me capture the darn thing 32khz 12 bit.

FYI I'm using FCP 7. Sure , it would be great if they were not record in 12 bit in the first place but that is typically what older camera recorded in and these are all amateur home movies so the operators did not know any better. My job is just to get them off the tape and get them to digital with the best quality .

If you have FCP 7, you have QuickTime Pro.

To verify, open QuickTime Player 7 and look in the edit menu.

If you see Cut Copy and Paste as choices, you have QuickTime Pro:

Are the source tapes seamlessly recorded with video, from beginning to end, or are there gaps on the tapes?

In my experience with DV, the audio will become out of sync when transferring tapes that have gaps in the recordings - blank areas of tape that are left after someone reviews a scene and then leaves a gap on the tape before the next recording begins, for example.

When FCP captures that as a non controllable dv stream, (again - in my experience) the gap is removed from the captured file, as the video is slid forward - but the audio is then thrown out of sync.

The only way around this is to capture in smaller chunks and verify each section is correct, or have confidence that the entire tape is a continuous recording.

Note: I believe this is why when HDV was introduced, digitizing was modified to accommodate this problem, but resulted in separate clips, so that bins would be full of clips from a single source tape - if capturing as HDV.
