Initializing Core Audio Problem

I'm using a MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Mid 2014) w/ Yosemite 10.10.3.

My question is in regards to Logic Pro X, version 10.0.7. I'm trying to use a focusrite Scarlett 18i8 audio interface.

I got one recording session in just fine, then I unplugged the interface to go listen to the song on some speakers. Once I came back, I kept getting the "Initializing Core Audio" message about every 20 seconds. Now, when I plug in my focusrite, I either get the consistent core audio message.

When I try to create a new project with the Scarlett plugged in, I can only select the "External MIDI" option for my tracks. When I try to add an audio track, it gives me a message saying "The specified number of tracks could not be created. Reduce the number of tracks to create, then try again."

Any help/advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

Why did you unplug it in the first place, Logic has it's own audio settings... you can set the computer and Logic to play through different sets of speakers.

Unplug the Scarlett, turn the computer off for a few seconds. Leave the Scarlett unplugged, turn the computer back on. Go to System Settings/Sound and set everything (Input/Output) to built-in audio. Input, choose something other than Microphone if possible but not digital, Output to built-inaudio or whatever works for the computer speakers. Next go to Utilities/MIDI-Audio Setup, make sure all the settings reference Built-in Audio, Input should not be digital or Microphone if possible.

Ok, now... turn the computer off. Plug the Scarlett IN, turn the computer back on... let it settle for a minute or two. Start Logic, immediately go to LOGIC'S Preferences/AUDIO and set the Input and Output to the Scarlett audio device. Set the I/O Buffer to 256 to start with.

If possible you should always use the Scarlett for playback, it will give you a Much better representation of the music, in other words.. a separate set of monitor speakers for critical listening.

Also, if you're using iTunes to listen to music and you wish to hear an accurate representation of the audio go into iTunes Preferences/Playback and yurn off ALL of the "enhancements".
