Safari wont open certain secure websites

Hi again all!

When i go to a secure website (capital one for eg) it wont load.

All i get is a white blank screen.

I am connected via wireless Netgear DG834G V3 modem/router alongside a Windows PC that is wired to the same network.

I have read a couple of posts with similar problems suggesting firewall settings but i dont think thats the option.

In particular, on the capital one help section is suggests a few options and settings to try (SSL?) but i cannot find any reference to these settings on safari.

Any help ,again, very much appreciated!!

Hi again Jason; )

Sorry to see you are having problems:( Is this the only site that you have this issue with?, could you please post the link, so we could try it?
Maybe the site is down?

Look to see if your Netgear DG834G V3 modem/router needs a firmware update?

• Go to Safari Preferences, Security tab and find all the cookies for said site & remove them, now set cookies to "ALWAYS" for the site.Try the site.

Any better? If not.....

• Try this go to your Home~/Library/Cookies/cookies.plist
and move that file to the trash. Restart.

Try the site any better? if not place the cookies.plist file back in the cookies folder.

Please let us know how you fare.

Hi Eme,

Tried the various options you suggested but i cant even find any cookies related to that site as it wont even load.

The site is: www.capitalone.co.uk

I also have an issue with my banking website.

If i go to the login page and log in, it then takes me to another page and asks me to register for internet banking, even tho on my windows xp PC it works fine.

It seems to me that there is a security issue with the sites and possibly MAC?

My netgear router is fairly new and have checked for updates and there are noe at present.

Regards
Jason.

Hi when i type this www.capitalone.co.uk

[ you are missing the "m" best to drag the link or copy & paste]

I got to this page -> http://www.capitalone.com./uk

Looking for something at CapitalOne.com?
We’re sorry but the page you are looking for cannot be found. This could be for a number of reasons:
You have requested a page that no longer exists
You have typed the web address (URL) incorrectly
You have reached this page from an old bookmark

I clicked on the UK link (far right) in the countries area and got this blank page

http://www.capitalone.co.uk/web/MenuUrl?pageId=1

I did a google search for capitalone uk

Try this link.
http://www.capitalone.co.uk/web/raid/templates/hometemp_10_001.jsp?page_id=1&contextid=2&pageId=1
The blank page did put cookies on my computer.
Do you have the security setting on cookies checked to "Only sites you navigate to" make sure it is not set to never

Delete those bookmarks Cap.1 UK & your Bank and see if that helps
[ if this is how you access the sites]

Edit: if I click on any of the tabs on this page they are blank
this is true on all my machines, Intel & powerbookppc 10.4.8
and the 10.3.9 open an account works.

Hi Jason,

I just love your version of the English language!; )

Glad the link opens the page & it works for you !!
Happy to have helped.

Now I have to figure out why it doesn't work for me on any of my computer.
I am not a client of the site in any fashion, so on the back burner,
though as I said "Open an Account" tab does work.

I figure since they don't have any cookies & pies on me, perhaps that explains it.
Thanks for the solved ✯ helpful for me & others with the same query!

A pleasure to have you aboard! Keep reading & asking questions about your mac, it really helps!

Regards & have a nice w/e.
