Why can I print but not scan? (using Canon MG4250 and Yosemite)

Just got a new iMac with Yosemite. Weirdly, I can still wirelessly print using my Canon MG4250, but the scanner refuses to communicate.

(I can wirelessly scan using the Canon phone app, so I know it is still working.)

Anyone know why, and how to fix, please? Have tried variety of suggestions (e.g. deleting then adding the 4250 again, downloading driver updates, checking via System Prefs and Canon Utilities that everything is connected and correctly ticked and it is) so I can't work this one out. Why does only the print function, but not the scan function, communicate with my iMac? Help!

iMac (21.5-inch, Late 2013), OS X Yosemite (10.10.3)

Yes ~ ImageScan does not recognise or detect the MG4250 at all.

VueScan worked but horrible results. I will turn to this as a last resort. 😕

Thanks Pahu ~ yes, the Bonjour and IJ Network both show up. Neither will detect or operate the scan function of the 4250. This is driving me crazy!
