Brothers HL-2270DW will not print PDF file

Just wondering if anyone had the same trouble I did. I have two brothers laser printers. The last one I purchased is a HL-22270DW. I called Brothers support and was told it was not a brother problem it was a Microsoft problem when the printer would not print duplex. I tried to return but found out the amazon dealer required me to pay for return shipping. Better to sell if unable to resolve this problem.

So I use Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat Professional on my Mac. When I try to print from Fusion using Win7 and Office the printers seems to work just fine. I was able to print a VISO diagram without problem. OS X will not print duplex or PDF for starters. Based on my troubleshooting the problem is with the Brothers Print driver. It should be noted that I updated both the firmware and driver with I did the initial install.

I must say I have not found anyone else writing about this problem. I have a Lenovo laptop with Win 7 and office that prints PDFs just fine. Kinda narrows the problem down to Brothers and OS X 10.10. So there is my story and anyone who has come across the came problem please respond with your current status: still NFG or you found a work around.

Have you checked the Brothers website for updated drivers?

Is printing the same in all applications?

If you haven't done so already, try resetting the printing system.

Tried all suggestions prior to posting. Used an uninstall program to make sure all artifacts were removed.

However, some new info I found is that Preview prints PDFs, and my MBP prints PDFs just fine. So that really starts pointing to the acrobat libraries on the MacPro. I looked at Acrobat Professional on the MacPro and found that I had v8.0 where the MBP had v8.3.1. Tried to downloaded and tried to install the updates without success.

Another interesting problem I found was that when I installed H&R Block Tax cut the menu buttons would not display, showed a rectangle with an X in the middle. If mouseover clicked the menu would execute. Again tried to reinstall App and no luck. So I installed on MBP works like advertised.

I also installed the OS again on the MacPro from the restore menu.

Can you say sucking sound for time waste?

New plan,

1. remove all data not needed from MacPro boot disk. Make an Image of the Drive

2. print an inventory of installed programs.

3. Unmount all attached / installed HDDs, (I have 4 additional drives installed. I am using a PCIe card that mounts 2 SSDs). I want to prevent permissions from becoming a problem. This is a question that could get weird I am afraid. That's why back so important.

4. Migrate disk image from the MBP SSD to the Mac Pro SSD.

5. Reinstall all missing programs.

6. Hope this fixes the problem without causing new ones.
