Motherboard is broken. Retrieve pictures

HI all! I dropped my iPhone 5 and the motherboard cracked. I took it to a few repair centers and they said nothing could be done in terms of repairing, but only installing a new motherboard will help the iphone to start working again. I thought of just buying a new iPhone but the problem is I really need to retrieve all the pictures, videos and notes from that iphone but I can't do it because the phone is not responding to the touch. It was connected to iCloud and when I log in my iCloud, I can see all pics and videos from iPad mini but nothing from my iPhone. Why is that? What I could do? If I get a new motherboard am I going to lose all that stuff from my old phone forever?

Sorry, we can't advise you. Your phone is now unsupportable since it was opened by an unauthorized party. If the data isn't in iCloud or backed up on your computer, it's gone.

If the " motherboard" was replaced, your content is dead and gone. It is not like a computer, where the stuff is in the hard drive that can be taken out and used elsewhere, in the phone it was inside a chip that's soldered to the original (cracked) board. As Tim states, only an iCloud or local BACKUP of it can be recovered.
