Airport Express Model A1301
My Airport Express Model A1301 stopped working. Blinking amber light. It's not my cable internet connection. Any suggestions? It's no longer under warranty.

A1301 is an AirPort Extreme......not an AirPort Express. This model was produced between March 2009 and October 2009, so it would be aboutt 6 years old.....and the average useful life of a router designed for home use is about 5 years.
Are you still using OS X (10.5.8) as your profile indicates? If not, what operating system do you have currently installed on your Mac?
Bob: Thanks for the clarification. After doing some more research, I realized it was an Airport Extreme. I've upgraded the operating system to Yosemite 10.10.2
Guess the router reached the end of its' useful life. Could it be anything else?
As a last resort, try resetting the AirPort Extreme back to its factory default settings and then set it up again to see if that might give the AirPort Extreme a bit more time.
To reset back to factory defaults......
Power off the AirPort Extreme by pulling the power cord from the back of the device
Wait a minute
Hold in the reset button first, and keep holding it in for another 7-8 seconds while you simultaneously plug the power cord back into the AirPort Extreme
Release the reset button, and allow a full minute for the AirPort Extreme to restart to a slow, blinking amber light status
Set up the AirPort Extreme again. If problems persist, it is time for a new router.
Thanks Bob! I will try that. You've been "extremely" helpful.
