I am unable to burn and copy a dvd on my macbook pro.
MacBook Pro, iOS 8.3
Not giving much to go on
What happens when you try?
Doe it burn CD?
Does it play DVDs and CDs?
Did it work before?

It will play a DVD but will not "Burn and Copy."
If my Pro has that ability, I don't know how it works.
If you are trying to burn/copy a homemade DVD/video, please explain the exact steps you've taken and what happens; if you are trying to copy a commercial DVD, it will not work due to the built in DRM and copyright protections on commercial DVDs and we are not allowed to discuss circumventing such protections here.
I am still relatively new to Mac. But to answer your question. I put a non-commercial DVD into the proper slot and the screen came up ready for the DVD to be played. But there were no prompts, ala windows, to follow to "Copy and Burn." What am I doing wrong? Thanks for all the answers.
What is the content of the DVD - just inserting a DVD will not prompt you to copy and burn - you need to launch software to do that. What should happen is that the DVD player should launch (an app in your Applications folder) to play the DVD.
It is a spiritual DVD. What App should I look for to download?
As I said in my last post, to play it, use DVD player in your Application folder. FWIW, you're not downloading it, you just want to play it - right?
