FWIW, I had the same problem with repeated warnings during the install that iTunes could not be verified or OS X could not be verified.

One of the App Store install attempts did install iTunes 10.2.0.145 successfully.

I downloaded the 10.10.4 Combo updater and it worked perfectly. The download file is verified before the install begins. It is a larger download, so it takes longer. But I can use the same file on two other Macs in the house with no download. Using the combo updater is the classic fix for update problems, either during download or afterward.

No wake from sleep problems, or other problems.

BTW, this kind of update glitch is highly unusual for me. I wonder if Apple Music plus all the other updates overloaded Apple's server network.

I can complete the installation of OS X 10.10.4.

my solution is "before click restart i have to confirm that the machine stills connect the Internet".

After you finished download the file of 1.09GB. The system need to restart. You need to restart to install. Don't forget that you need to connect internet after click restart. I saw the system need to connect the Internet at 8 minute during checking the file.

i hope this help.

Hi

I had the same problem. CPU at 97-100% and no update. Also tried to download the dmg-file and install manually, but the installation failed before it had a chance to start.

I booted my macbook pro into Safe Mode (By pressing Shift-key shortly after Boot-sound) and searched for updates in App Store. The update appeared like normal and the update succeeded.

Hi Everyone,

Does anyone know which is better of the two, the combo update or the standard update (downloads), or what the difference is?
Did a manual combo update (not from the store) and whilst it works o.k there are a couple of glitches in the system…

Was about to do a clone to test to see if the standard update version works better…

Thanks in advance

Combo updaters are much larger to download. They're intended to cover more previous versions, eg. 10.9 --> 10.10.4. The usual update is intended only to update from the most recent previous version, eg. 10.10.3 --> 10.10.4.

Mac lore has it that a combo updater will sometimes fix problems that crop up after a regular update. The theory is that one or more files may get corrupted and cause problems that only appear upon installing an update. A combo updater presumably replaces those files.

Of course, most problems with OS X updates are because third-party software won't work in the new version. A combo updater can't fix that.

(The problem I was having was with downloading the updater, not the updater itself.)

I agree. Worse update ever. 10.10.3 worked ok after tweaking earlier versions of Yosemite. Hope Apple issues fixes to 10.10.4 soon, or I will be forced to get a PC...

After installing update, my iMac is slow, mail is slow or hangs, safari won't open, and apps hang. I have done power disconnect, PRAM procedure, and put in a guest user mode. All apps are slow or do not respond.

Can someone tell me how to go back to 10.10.3?

Not correct. I downloaded 10.10.4 (not the beta) from the systems update software after its release. Now, after 4 attempts to download and install the combo version, I followed the advice of another in this thread. Boot your Mac in safe mode. Go to the Apple Store and download 10.10.4 from there and let your Mac restart. My 2008 iMac with 4 GB is now working fine again.
