iOS 8.4 how do I turn off music shuffle

I have an album (Opera) where order is important. The new Music app keeps shuffling it ... and filling an up next list ... how do I p[lay tracks 1 to 82 in order?

MacBook Pro, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.3)

After about two months of trying to solve this problem intermittently I finally realised that in iPhone 6 with browser enlarged the shuffle/repeat buttons are BELOW THE SCREEN!! You need to scroll down to see them when you look at a song. Doh!!

Thanks for this detailed reply. Your screen shots helped me to solve the problem.

Clearly, this should is not what should happen. At the top of the Playlist showing all the songs, tapping the Shuffle word or symbol should toggle between Shuffle On and Shuffle Off.

This simply doesn't work: the word and the symbol remain coloured red (even after adopting the solution you gave, by going to an individual title).

Perhaps the software engineers could be persuaded to shuffle off into a retirement home?

Thanks for posting this, Yogi. I'm on the phone with Apple Care support as I type this (and found this while on hold). I had to be transferred to a senior advisor to get this same information.

Here's a bigger question-- directed to Apple. What ever happened to Apple being able to design apps that were intuitive? Why is there a shuffle "bar" on the album view that highlights when you tap it, indicating something happened, but no visual indicator of what happened? Shuffle is an "album" or "Playlist" attribute, so having it present on the album view is where it belongs. If the shuffle icon on the album view to the right would toggle between bright and greyed-out, no (logical) person would have had an issue with this. How is it logical or intuitive to have this "control" here, but require one to navigate to the current song view to turn shuffle on or off? The answer is not at all.

I tried Yogi's solution on my ipad. I think it has worked, but it was not immediate. The view of the single song on my ipad shows shuffle as off (without the grey square) when the first song begins to play. I turned it on and off several times, then gave up and let the album shuffle. I think the software has to catch up, because right before I put my foot in my ipad, I saw that the shuffle was on the first song and turned it off. Now the album is playing in sequence. I am still so frustrated with Apple I'm considering another player. The only consolation is that the solution seems to have worked for all of the albums.

This simply DOES NOT WORK on my iPad Air. I do not connect or subscribe to online music and shuffle just KILLS classical music.. I have tried several times to toggle the shuffle in the song view per above (it is OFF while the Playlist stays on and continues to shuffle, NO effect). I've tried Siri, but no change. I've done a reset (power off, reboot). Nothing works. These software designers need to be given the boot, and I'd like to revert to the prior version!

Hey David by toggling the switch aint going to fix anything. If you follow Yogi's instruction to the letter it should work. I did and it fix mine. I understand how frustrating this thing is, it took me over a month before I found an answer, I wish you the best of luck man. if you want to maybe we could do FaceTime and try to help solve your issue, or maybe with someone you trust better that understands the issue. once again good luck.

I thought I was making it clear that I was following Yogi's instructions to the letter: "I have tried several times to toggle the shuffle in the song view per above (it is OFF while the Playlist stays on and continues to shuffle, NO effect).

It's more what Phoebe experienced above - it took some time for the machine to actually switch. I do have a 128GB iPad and a lot of music on it.

Now ... how do I get my columns back, more like a PC iTunes view? This fluff of album covers is also poor design...

The fact that this question even had to be asked shows how poor the design is. Why in the world would Apple decide to turn a perfectly good design of Rev Play Fwd Shuffle Repeat into something that makes no sense and is in no way faster or more convenient for the user.

Design by committee? Ugh

Groove Music Player is the best free alternative I have found so far. Any other suggestions to replace the terrible Music App?

This worked for me, so thanks.

That said, this is the most non-obvious, counterintuitive method imaginable. it is all I can do to restrain myself from using expletives to voice my frustration here. I spent twenty minutes trying to find this when all I wanted to do was to relax and listen to an album. What gives, Apple? Isn't your whole raison d'être to provide the masses with designs that are second nature? Just put a toggle where I can find it.

Feel free to insert colorful metaphors liberally into my statements above. Then you can get a true read on my frustration here.
