Music home sharing no longer available after ios 8.4 update?

I have been searching for a way to access my home music library from music after completing the ios 8.4 update. Any way to connect now? The option seems to be missing.

I have been looking for this as well, looks like Apple may have taken this out with 8.4 which would be very upsetting and I probably wouldn't have updated older devices if I had known that as we use home sharing in the house all the time, or at least we did 😟 Hoping I am just missing it and someone will point me in the right direction

Apple *hoped* people would just acceppt it and go get a music subscription.

But I still like to own what I pay for, and I bought a lot of music and movies from the iTunes store. Storage is cheap these days. With just 150 € for a 5 TB hard drive I can store and stream every media I bought or may buy in the next ten years without ever needing an external server, and I will continue doing it this way. If apple is going to make this impossible, that will just result in me purchasing music and movies somewhere else.

I do it pretty much the same way. Big hard drive connected to a Mini, lots of music streamed to various devices in the house via Home Sharing. When I'm away I either take music on the iPhone or iPad, or just use Pandora, which I love. But I don't think you have to worry about Apple making it hard for you going forward. Home Sharing will be back, or something like it. Anyway, seems like there's always a way to get things done. 🙂

I hear ya'. I guess I tend to set my sights a little lower these days. Apple does so much, and has so many people to try to please, I just lower my expectations. The way I see it, they've given me so much over the many years, I just wait until new stuff comes out, and if I like, I buy. Small problems with hardware and software don't bother me either, as I know it will get fixed. And if not, well… life goes on. Cheers!

HI all,

i am not bringing anything new to this thread, just wanted to express my frustration at loosing the home sharing capability over wifi. As many user have already stated it does not make sense to remove this feature from the new iOS.

The whole essence of using ios seems to have been lost with this feature removed. It was a pleasure to be able to listen to my entire music library from any of my devices. With this feature removed, it feels like the magic is gone.

i Strongly urge Apple to reintroduce this feature in their next update.

thanks.

Well, I just updated to iOS 9 on my iPad and lo and behold, Home Sharing has returned. You'll find it in an odd place, the Title menu at the top.

Once I got it selected and it loaded my library (with the usual slowness - gee, you think they could have improved load times for those of us with large libraries, since that's why we use Home Sharing in the first place!), it worked just fine.

Welcome back, Home Sharing!

You're is working? So what I'm I doing wrong.

Just up-dated to 9.0. Home sharing is back. But I found this alarm. What do I need to do to over come this?

Just up-dated itunes 12.3 on the PC. Rebooted the ipad and the PC.

Tried again. Same problem. The library loaded the first time, since then it has become very slow, most of the time it stops loading at about 25%.

Have I missed anything.

A Few things worth checking.

Check both devices are on the same wi-fi network, I have a guest network and my main network.

Check your Apple ids match on computer and device, when I upgraded to iOS 9 it inserted my iCloud id rather than my iTunes id.

A few tricks from the past, restart both computer and device.

If that fails log out and back into home sharing on both devices.

PITA I know and should not have to be done but they usually worked.

I was hoping for a revamped system but it looks like we just have the old system back.
