Macbook Air early 2014, windows, meet black screen with latest Intel graphics driver (hd5000)

Macbook Air early 2014,

Installed windows fully follow the Bootcamp guide.

Neither Windows 8 nor Windows 7 can run correctly, same Symptoms, screen goes black before the login.

Later figure out it's cause by Intel HD Graphic 5000 driver.

If not to install the driver, everything goes well.

HOWEVER! Windows Update will push the driver and install automatically! of course, the screen goes black after the update.

Anyone have the same problem? the latest driver not working on macbook air ?

Disable Windows Automatic Updates and manually update and ignore any drivers that Windows offers.

Thanks for the reply.

However, none of the Graphic Card driver provide by BCA or Windows Update can work properly, or even manually download from Intel website.That's suffering running windows without a graphic card drivers.

Anyone can provide a properly driver? Any solution?

Please just ignore the last point, for the unknown PCI device, it's Intel Management Engine, I install the driver manually from the BootCamp Driver Folder. It's running alright now.

Was 5640 downloaded by BCA? Can you check bootcamp.xml file and post the Product Version line from the file?

From System requirements to install Windows on your Mac using Boot Camp - Apple Support, your driver bundle should be newer than 5640.

Follow the instruction, download the drivers by BCA again, and check the BootCamp.XML, found this info:

If you go to Device Manager and under Display -> Adapters, look at the properties, what is the current driver version?

Once driver installed, the screen turns black, not able to see anything.

Well, it takes some skills to get into the safe mode. (running windows 8.1)

The System shows the graphics driver version is 10.18.10.3345, which is the same version as the bootcamp included.

Try a NVRAM Reset - How to Reset NVRAM on your Mac - Apple Support. If that does not work, can you delete Windows using BCA (only) and install Windows again, and do not allow any Windows Updates for drivers.

NVRAM Reset also tried, still, black screen.

The windows update has been disabled, it's pure BCA drivers now.

But still black screen.

Can you delete BC/Windows and re-install it and disable Windows Update? The drivers files are in unknown state. You can also switch the drive to the Microsoft Generic VGA driver in Safe Mode.

The laptop is disconnected from internet during and after windows setup, so, the windows update is not running.

Yes, the windows can display desktop with "Microsoft Generic VGA driver", but, "Microsoft Generic VGA driver" is not a right driver for Intel HD 5000.
