Airplay icon dissapears when I play Beats 1 in iTunes 12.2

By the way: iTunes refuses to play Beats 1 on my Mac Mini mid 2007.

I am very unhappy for those unnecessary limitation.

Confirming reports. Looks just like the NPR issue. There is a workaround from a third party: Airfoil by Rouge Amoeba. Working on all 10.10.4 installations with Beats 1.

I have a 2011 MBP and Newest version of iTunes. Same issue. AirPlay of Beats1 from my iPhone and iPad work perfect. Airplay icon in iTunes goes away one I play Beats1.

Same issue here! Won't play on a Macbook running Lion. Why?? It makes no sense. Everything else works (Apple Music, other stations) but no Beats 1. Why pull support for no reason?! Just because I also run an older Macbook (which I can't upgrade) doesn't mean I don't listen to and buy music.

Same issue here on both a Mac and Windows machine. If this problem stays then it is just ridiculous. They want listeners and I want to listen and listen in the best quality and best way that I can with an existing set up. If I can't then I will just walk away. Just makes me less inclined to drop Spotify. The draw of the Apple route is for everything to work together…. iPhone… iPad… Macbook….Apple TV…. Airplay speakers. At the moment it isn't. It DOESN'T 'just work'.

It is great and works a treat….. but why?? Why should we have to use this third party app?

Strangely you can airplay Beats1 fine on iOS. My iPhone's working perfectly now.

I was looking for same thing here. First thought it had to do with Apple TV (restarting) and different wifi-networks. When all that was fixed it still did not work from my Mac Os 10.10.4 on a older macbook pro 17". But it does work from both iPad Air and iPhone 6.

However using the option-click on speaker in menubar let's you pick the Apple TV again and finally airplay from itunes 12.2 only in a flat (MONO?) sound?!

When switching again to airplay Beats1 via IOS it becomes a rich and stereo sound again.

Waiting for update or solution...

I can AirPlay Beats1 Radio from my Mac by setting my Sound output to my AirPlay speakers. Granted, it does play all sounds via that output, but seems like a possible short-term solution. You can also change which output device to use for the Sound Effects under that tab. That way alerts won't blast over your AirPlay speakers.

I am having this same problem. Running current versions of Yosemite and iTunes 12.2.0. Airplay icon disappears when I play the Beats1 radio station.
