"The application built with PhotoLibraryPrivate version 209.52.00 but is running with version 215.65.00."

Any help?

No need for a reinstallation....I have the resolution my friend, Just open photos from the application folder in finder on the left side and it should open.

It just seems that you will only get that error message if you open it from the dock.

So remove the photos from the dock and then drag it back there from the applications folder and that should have it working.

Let me know if it works.

OK! Didn't come to try that (good) one!

What I did was using Pacifist to extract Photos application from the combo update package, put it in the Applications Folder from my Yosemite Backut an voila: it worked.

Tried that to avoid the installation, as the rest of the system seems to be working perfectly, without a hitch.

nyronxxx_, your solution is even easier. I'll try it next time.

Thanks everybody!

Did you have the Photos app stored on a secondary drive?

I had this exact problem, and it was because the OSX update re-wrote a new version of photos into the Applications folder on the main drive. It also presumably updated some stuff related to opening the photos library. There was a conflict between the new Photos app on the primary drive and the old Photos app on the secondary drive.

Deleting the old photos app and re-linking the dock icon to the new app solved it.
