Quicktime error 2095 - Permissions issue

O/s : Windows XP Pro Sp2
iTunes Version 7.0.1.8
Quicktime version 7.1.3

Have installed latest iTunes and Quicktime which work ok for my user account with Administrator rights.

Another user on the same PC with 'Power User' permissions can not run iTunes. They get message that iTunes has enountered an error.

When the same Power User runs Quicktime they get an error that the application has failed to initalise with error code 2095.

If I user the Run As command and enter an account with Admin previledges, for iTunes or Quicktime, the applications run fine.

This is definately a permissions issue, and I have checked the folder permissions for Program Files\Quicktime, Program Files\iTunes, Documents and settings\all users\application data\apple computers. Power Users have Modify permissions on all of these directories.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

that is usually caused by a permissions problem.

have you checked the permissions in the registry for that particular account? the stejskal family pioneered the technique for that for us:

the trick for me was getting up the nerve to "fiddle" with the registry...the reason why the girls could not get access to iTunes/QT was down to permission...once I got one going I went back in to HKEY-MACHINE\SOFTWARE\apple computer, inc\Quicktime...click to highlight go to edit, permission and added the missing girls to the list of who is allowed...made sure they have full permission..apply, ok and "bobs your uncle" all is now well in stejskal home.

so check to see if that user account that is crashing for you has the right permissions on those keys.
