Recover 'Other' space , that appears to be photos

On a new iPad Mini 2 32gb unit.

there is over 13 gb of 'other' files

I have removed all apps from the iTunes Sync on my mac

No Music , Photos, Films, TV progs or Audio books set to Sync.

As far as I can see it is photos on the iPad, going by what I can see in Settings/ GeneralUsage/ Manage Storage,

It shows over 12.2 Gb from Photos and Camera, Syn'd from iTunes Library...but in iTunes I have Sync photos turned off

So even with iTunes Photo Sync OFF...there are still 12.2 gb of photos that won't come off my iPad.

Going on holiday soon and want it empty of photos to record my holiday.

How do I delete the photos that iTunes, won't remove..oh..they don't appear in Image Capture either

I also tried the trick mentioned here how do you delete photos from iPad when the original iTunes used to transfer is not available

of creating a new folder to sync to and then sync'ing to that and then not sync'ing . That 12 gb still can't be reclainmed.

IF the photos are showing as being synced from iTunes and disabled syncing photos, I amguessing that you have something corrupt on the iPad and you might need to restore the drive as new. You might need to do so, I'm saying that you absolutely will have to do it. Sometimes that is all that will died the device of bloated "other" storage.

Kappy's user tip is worth a look,

What is "Other" and What Can I Do About It?

The first thing I would try is to backup the iPad, restore to factory settings using iTunes and then restore the backup and see if that fixes it,

Recover 'Other' space , that appears to be photos
