Can you perform a back up using another's computer/iTunes?

Just got a mayday call from 16 year old daughter who has landed in France for the summer and about to buy a French prepaid SIM for her summer stay. She got the unlock code from AT&T but didn't back up her iPhone before she left and left her laptop here. But she has an iPad with her.

The issue is whether, using the iPad, and someone else's laptop & iTunes & wired connection to the net, login to her iCloud account and perform a back up from her phone>iPad>borrowed laptop's iTunes>her iCloud back up.

Maybe this route is unnecessary but her wi-fi is spotty there. My impression was that Apple wanted you to use a hard wired solution to minimize drop offs.

(Running latest iOS. Got her to do that before she left ;-

Thanks, aThanasi. Just got a text from the her saying that she gave up but instead bought a 10 Euro burner phone in France for emergencies. She will use her iPhone only on wifi for data. Not going to try to swap out SIMS.

Think Apple would use some of its s/w design wizardry on this issue of locking/unlocking, swapping SIMS and backup to iCloud but it would seem so much of this is in the hands of the competing carriers.😕
