updated my iphone 5 to IOS 8.4 and my photos are now missing. Can i recover it?

Photos taken with the camera are part of the backup, if you are syncing to iTunes on your computer. Just use the latest backup to restore and your photos should be back on the phone again.
Photos you synced from the computer are not included in the backup and have to be synced again to your device.
