How can I play all songs from one artist?

Trying to be constructive here, rather than just joining in a rant. I tried Apple Music when it first came out, but the minimalist interface seems limited and strangely unintuitive so and I switched back to Spotify, which is crazy easy to use and completely intuitive. However, I dislike the Sonos interface even more than Apple Music, (maybe all of this is just me, but I doubt it), so when Sonos announced their Apple Music beta, I was all over it and switched back to Apple Music just for this reason. However, Apple Music's inability to play for hours without having do anything (create playlists) is very annoying and might cause me to leave Apple Music-Sonos and go back to an inferior sounding, but much easier Spotify-BlueTooth system. Why can't I click on an artist and hit PLAY ALL, either in regular or shuffle mode? Apple, come on, this can't be this hard. BTW, I'm a busy middle-aged guy (enterprise SaaS consultant BTW) looking for nice background music as I put in long work hours. EFFORT IN PLAYING MUSIC DOESN'T WORK FOR ME, and probably millions of others.

Amazing that I have to swap to another app - HOW HARD could it be to show all songs for an artist. Obviously not hard since they had it before Apple Music and now took it away.

And BEAT was the solution and it was free - not even in-app purchases or anything.

Adding my voice to the chorus as well. It is absurd that I can't listen to all the song by artist straight through. Boo Apple, and your constant "improvements." Just give it a rest sometimes would ya? I know your stock is down and you're trying to stay innovative, but convoluting your legacy apps ain't the way to do it.

And...another unhappy customer. My last iPhone was a while ago. I loved the iTunes app (before it was just Music). Now I'm trying to listen to just REM songs, and for the life of me can't figure out how. Turns out, I can't! ***? Why wouldn't I be able to browse songs by artist? It's a basic database, and has been around since iTunes on OS 9 for Pete's sake. I'm really regretting going iPhone with my latest phone because of this.

Ha ha, concurred. (don't even get me started on time machine backup issues carried over from El Capitan to Sierra. Apple's reliability (for me, as a long time Apple user) has also been tanking in recent years... 😟

Also just a heads up if you go to search on the bottom right, type in the artist, scroll down to songs, and you can click show all... this is the only way around this issue I have found... a bit rediculous and inconveniet but it works...

Yes, but they are listed alphabetically, not in order of album as I have them conveniently in iTunes on my MacBook. Any solution to this? I have some artists where I have some 'Albums' that are just single songs or just a few, like a single release; I would like to listen to an artist's work in order of release while on a drive, but not necessarily with the forethought to have created a playlist for each & every one. Any solution to the alphabetical listing? Otherwise your solution is great.

Found your question when trying to do the same thing... found the easiest( although still slightly long winded) way was to go to artist, sort albums ( I wanted to play from earliest to latest) then just select the album to play next ( for the first one) then play later ( for the rest)

This doesn't work on my iPad. Running iOS 10.3.3.

All clicking on the artist's picture does is show all the albums from that artist on the right hand side of the screen. There is no option to get all the music by that artist to start playing.

Is this answer out of date? Is there any way to shuffle through all the songs by a single artist without creating a playlist?

In addition, is there any way to display the albums within an artist by year instead of by name? Currently they are sorted by name in my iPad and there doesn't seem to be a way to change it.

I am so upset with Apple for this issue. How could they make it so you can't get a list of all songs to pick from, like before? They need to correct this today!

Sadly it is almost as if ex-Microsoft staff were designed to make this product less useful!

You will have to create a playlist.
