Airport Time Machine Set Up problem

I'm having trouble setting up my new Airport Time Machine, I've followed the instructions but the Airport Utility only shows orange lights on the Internet and on my Time Capsule and it shows the internet connection is trying to connect but doesn't

It could be because of the PPPoE connection, I've entered my modem user and password but still the orange lights are on.

Please help

What is the make and model number of your modem or modem/router?

If it connects using PPPoE, then you would not setup the AirPort Time Capsule to Connect Using = PPPoE.....only one device provides PPPoE credentials on a network. You never want two devices both providing PPPoE.

If the modem is already providing PPPoE settings, the correct setting for the Time Capsule would be Connect Using = DHCP.

What kind of broadband is this??

What modem is it? Make and model please.

PPPOE in the TC would only be used if the modem is bridged or pure modem type. And as a warning it can be problematic.. many people using PPPOE type systems find it doesn't work.. it is better to leave modem to do router task and bridge the TC if there are any problems.

Occasionally just to comment PPPOE is possible over the top of existing PPPOE connection.. this is used when ISP allows for double public IP login.. it is not used a lot now with IPv6 coming on tap.

If you do use PPPOE the username and password are not the modem ones.. it is the ISP authentication ones.
