open .exe file from CD on mac

Hi all,

I had an MRI scan at the hospital last week and they sent me a CD which should have my scan footage on. However, it is on the CD as .exe and I cannot open it on my mac. I do not have a windows CD or USB to install via bootcamp and I don't want to buy one because I never need to open up .exe files so would be un needed cost.

I have tried something called wine bottler but it did not work, is there any way for me to get into this .exe file and view my MRI footage?

Cant believe the hospital sent it in this format in this day and age where so many people now have apple computers.

I am using Yosemite

Many thanks in advance

a few options

1) is there another folder on the disk, one with data files? if so what format are the files? It's possible the .EXE is a slide show or proprietary player and the data is "out in the open" on the CD outside of that .EXE. In which case you could possible open the images from that folder.

2) Parallels or Boot Camp would allow you to install Windows provided you have a working and viable installer

3) Wine for Mac might be a solution

if it was not working you could ask in the forums

4) contact whoever provided you with the CD if they can send the images in a mac "friendly" format like JPG or MOV
