How do I attach photo to iMessage on new Macbook.

Drag and drop the photo on to iMessage's message line.

I appreciate the simple suggestions, and I'm very familiar with how to share a picture. I can select "share" either with the two-finger tap or the box with the arrow, but iMessage doesn't open up when I select it..... nothing happens.
That started after I installed latest update.
maybe you could try
1. Select a photo in Photos
2. Click on Share button
3. Go down list of options to More
4. This should give a default list of options. Maybe Message is unchecked? If so, good. Click on the check box.
Preferences can get subtly deformed during OS upgrades.

I used to go to a picture in Photos and select "share" and open iMessage, now iMessage wont open up for Photos anymore. Sometimes if I drag the photo to iMessage, I can send it that way, but I want the SHARE option to work again......... HELP
It works okay for me:
I can open MAIL, and FACEBOOK, just not MESSAGE.
What gives?
