Why do I only have a one month free trial of Apple Music?
Other people have 3 months but I only have 1 month.
Other people have 3 months but I only have 1 month.
I am having the same issue. I contacted iTunes Support and they have been little help. My support agent said that Apple is "currently unable to reset the Apple Music subscription in your account for you to get the free trial." I find it very annoying that I have to begin paying the $9.99 three months before anyone else does. Here is a screenshot of my 'subscriptions' in the Music app does. It seems like they tried to reset my account but couldn't do it.
I manage the phones for my family.
Two of us have three month free trials, opened today ending 8 October.
One of the devices has one month free trial, opened today ending 8 August.
Specifically states these durations and end dates in the Subscriptions section.
I've spoken to Apple at length and they are not clear on what the issue is.
There are 3 separate Apple IDs. 2 have the free 3 month trial and 1 keeps getting charged.
They refunded me, removed the subscription, and when I applied again for the 3 month trial the same thing happened - charged for a monthly subscription.
The only thing in common with the accounts is they all use the same credit card (mine).
Could it be that the same credit card cannot be used on more than 1 Apple ID?
4 hours on the phone to Apple Support.
They have now given up and told me I have to pay.
This is ridiculous as I haven't activated the free trial, yet they claim I have.
It's nonsensical as I obviously haven't and, anyway, it's impossible to have used a 3 month trial as it was only launched a month ago
Customer service has been a disgrace. Really surprised as usually Apple Support are helpful.
They pulled the same logic on me. It just makes no sense at all. They continue to claim that I have used a three month free trial in less than 10 days. Where is the logic in this? I'm pretty sure that Apple didn't even have all of their agreements with the music labels set three months ago...
I sent two additional emails yesterday detailing my situation and have yet to hear a reply. I will keep you all posted on this.
Please do keep us posted, Connor.
Agree with every word you say.
Never known Apple to have this attitude before. Obviously and logically it's an issue, yet they just repeatedly say to me "you have to pay". In the end they terminated the call as we were at deadlock!
I'm hoping they see sense. I suggested they credit me with £29.97 to cover the "free" three months and I'd then pay myself, if they can't resolve it on the system.
My daughter (who it is for) is hugely disappointed see can't access her free trial.
Just got this reply from Apple:
"Please note we only allow one free trial. As the iPhone was already used by an account to sign up for a family plan, any subsequent accounts that sign up, like yours, are charged. If we did not have this stipulation in place, people would just keep having different accounts sign up every three months for free trials."
I don't understand why Apple is pulling the 'scam' card to justify their rigid free trial system this early into Apple Music's beginning. A mere twelve days in, and I've spent all twelve of those days emailing back and forth with iTunes Support. Very, very disappointing.
I managed to get a little more info from Apple which finally makes some sense.
The free trial applies to devices, not Apple IDs, so if you activated the trial on a device when using a different ID you can't then use the free trial with your own Apple ID
Workaround recommended by Apple is to use Family Sharing and then my daughter can get access to the 3 month free trial.
If I set up Family Sharing I believe I need to activate iCloud Music Library. What are the implications of this?
Different countries offer different trial Options. Also, Some Carriers are now offering the trial and if they are the ones that offered you the 3 months, then you have to sign up through them, not thru Apple
Everyone gets 3 months free trial subscription.
Please post a screenshot or photo of the agreement showing only 1 month free trial period (not the subscription period)
Did it ask you to pay in advance? It told me it was going to charge me before I even started the trial . Today is Thursday 9Jul15
Mine did the same thing. I actually WAS charged.
They managed to reset the subscription the first time but not the second time so I'm stuck.
Handled very poorly by iTunes Support so far
