Cant sync music... says 'iCloud Music Library is on'??

Since i updated to the new iTunes and turned apple music on on my phone i haven't been able to sync music & playlists to my phone.


When i go to the playlist tab within my iPhone sync settings (within iTunes), it just says 'iCloud Music Library is on'....


This is where i used to see all my albums and playlists to sync.


Any ideas why i can't sync any more?

MacBook Pro, OS X Yosemite (10.10.3)

Well, apparently as soon as you turn on iCloud Music Library, it no longer lets you transfer tracks over USB. You can only download them from the iCloud Music Library over wifi (or cellular data.)

This is a bummer to me as I have about 3000 songs in my iCloud Music Library and I'd like to save them all to my phone for offline use. They are on my Mac in iTunes and it would be great to just transfer them over but the only way to do it is to go into playlists or albums and select "Save for offline"

I created a smart playlist that is "All Music" and attempted to save the whole playlist for offline use, but it's slow and sometimes the download craps out.

I haven't enabled iCloud Music Library on my iPhone, in part because I'm seeing too many things like this, but one thing I've noticed is that in iCloud Music Library smart playlists cannot rely on other smart playlists. Could it be that your playlists are all "too complex" for iCloud Music Library, and therefore aren't appearing on your device? I know many of my smart playlists have inordinately complex trees, many of which were spawned/made necessary by earlier versions of iTunes that messed up the way I wanted to organize my music.


(Even if you do get them to appear, I guess you'll then have to download them all for offline use, which sounds like a nightmare.)
