Youtube, 9gag.tv, Internet videos load, but will not play?

Hello, I have a Mac OS X version 10.9.5 and Safari version 7.1.7 and latest version of Adobe. Recently, I've had a dramatic issue that I would simply adore to have dealt with ASAP. Basically, whenever I try to play a video, one streamed, not downloaded, the page loads, the first image of the video loads (I can also access images like 5, 10 minutes into the video, just not get it to play) and then nothing. There is no spinning wheel, the page is alive (internet connection alive), but no matter how long I wait, the video doesn't play. It sits and I recognize every detail of the first, or 0 second of the video. Please help, and thanks in advance.
