How to: Double album with different disc names

Is this possible? For example, The Smashing Pumpkins' Mellon Collie album has discs "Dawn to Dusk" and "Twilight to Starlight". I would like to show these disc names in iTunes as well, instead of "Disc 1" and "Disc 2". This must be possible, I think. Look up for example the R.E.M. compilation album "Complete Studio Albums - I.R.S. 1982 - 1987" in the Store. Each of the albums has a header with the album name. Thanks!

I don't have an iTunes Store account so I can't see what you are seeing there. iTunes tags are limited to what general tagging standards support. If you are literally seeing "Disc 1" that is something somebody has typed into a field supporting text. The disc number fields are numeric only and when you see "disc 2 of 4" in iTunes you are really seeing something in iTunes saying display the words and fields: "disc " [insert disc number here] " of " [insert total number of discs here]

If you want to display something different think flexibly. If you want the band leader's pet dog's name in the track information and don't need anythign in "grouping" put the dog's name there and remember that you are using hte grouping field for pet names.

You could take your album title and change it to "The Smashing Pumpkins' Mellon Collie - Dawn to Dusk" and set the disc number to 1 of 2, then similarly for the second album.

Note if you do this and use iCloud services you may end up in a tussle with iCloud track identification.

Thank you. Yeah, I'll stay away from iCloud, it messed up my library already after signing up for Apple Music.

I'll include an attachment to show what I see in the iTunes store. Maybe this is something store specific, that if you buy this album, you'll get all the albums as separates, instead of a, let's call it, a box. I only bought the Chronic Town album, since I already had the other albums. I changed the tags for that album, before realizing I should have checked which tags were used and how.

But what I get from your answer is that iTunes cannot display other disc specific information than the disc number itself. Renaming the discs themselves will split up the album.User uploaded file
