iTunes 12.2.1 - Playlist Column Headers (View Options) Not Available

New bugs introduced in iTunes 12.2.1. Can others confirm and if so, have you found a workaround?

  1. When creating a new manual or smart album, the column headers are not appearing and the View Options (Command + J) menu item is disabled.
  2. The View Options (Command + J) menu item is disabled for all existing playlists. However, since column headers are still visible for existing playlists, I can still right click and manage column headers that way.

I recently created a new playlist in iTunes 12.2.1 and it isn't set in my preferred columns view like all of my other playlists and I want it set up like that than any other way. I also can't set up this new view to have columns where I can have: Song Name, Time, Artist, Album, Genre, Date Added, Plays, Last Played, Skips, Last Skipped, and Rating (all in that order) for my columns but they still appea in my old playlists but not in my newly created one.

it is totally disappointing and ridiculous that Apple and iTunes would get rid of this and force its users to not have their preferred preferences for their computers and their own personal (personalize) iTunes Library!

A user on another site gave me a tip that I completely missed, and was the cause of my issue.

The issue is that new playlists are created in Playlist view. Up in the top right corner you can change the layout of your playlists, and if you select Songs, you now get the column headers and the ability to View Options (Command + J).

Hopefully this helps you as well.
