how to download movies

We have Load Shedding here in South Africa where our power is cut for 21/2 hours at a time. It is driving me mad. Can anyone please tell me how to download some free movies onto my MacBook. (Please note I need an idiots guide!).

Thanks

MacBook (13-inch Early 2008), Mac OS X (10.5.8)

The problem most likely lies in the file size of a movie. It''s usually in the GB range.

The larger the file size, the longer they take to download and in most cases the download times out before it can finish especially in a situation where power is interrupted for extended times.

It would also depend on your internet conenction download speeds.

You can check your download speed here > http://www.speedtest.net

Anything less than 5Mbps, you're going to have a difficult time downloading movies even with power.

Thanks Carolyn but what I am actually trying to do is download some movies BEFORE the load shedding so that I can watch on my laptop when the power is off as then I have no internet connection but do have my battery. The problem is however that as you pointed out when I try and do it my downloads fail before completion and I thought maybe there was a better way to do it since I am new to this.
