Double click speed for Apple Pay on Apple Watch

I have been using Apple products for over 15 years now , as a person with disabilities I have found your accessibility over the years fantastic when I first heard about Apple Pay and the ability to use Apple Pay on the Apple Watch it I was so excited . It will make such a difference for me as I will not have to get my wallet or my phone out of my pocket I can just tap my wrist . I have poor coordination and use either a manual wheelchair or a powered wheelchair

I have just set up my cards on the watch . But now realised I can't and never will be able to use it as I cannot double-click to the speed required to activate my cards on the watch . Please please sort this so people with disabilities can you use the Apple Pay on the Apple Watch which I am sure but one thing you wanted it for !

I want to start using this every time I visit London so please update and take note that people with disabilities cannot double-click to the same speed as people without disabilities

Someone please reply and let me know if this will be in the update

I agree with you they should change the software to make it either a one press or a slower 2 press or an adjustable option. When I first got my watch last year no matter how fast I made the 2 presses I could not get this to work yet no one else was complaining. When I mentioned it to my wife she tried it and had no problems whatsoever. She could get Apple Pay up every time. Finally I figured out that I was leaving my finger on the button after the last press, essentially making a third press which just triggered Friends. Once I started pulling my finger away after the second press I had no further problems.

But again you you are correct, it's not just a person with disabilities that find this difficult. Also if the screen is black the first press just wakes the screen and the second one launches Friends. As long as I always make certain that the screen is active the double push and pulling my finger away works every time. If the screen is black when I do this Friends comes up most of the time. Now maybe this is because I'm not "fast" enough but I have no disabilities (that I'm aware of) and I find that waking the screen first makes it work very time and I'd bet most people would find the same.

BUt again you are correct, it should be made simpler. I had even tried launching the Wallet and trying it from there but the same double push is necessary. It would seem that if you intentionally, and not accidentally, launched Wallet that one press should launch Apple Pay.

I couldn't agree with you more, Downstarj. Apple needs to fix this! None of the solutions offered here have helped me (and I've no disabilities interfering with use of the watch). Regardless of the terminology, I.e. bug or needed tweak to software, the double click rarely works. Another example--look at the vast improvement Apple made in the accuracy of Touch ID from iPhone 5 and 5s to iPhone 6 and 6s. Unfortunately, for those of us laying out $$$s for the first watch, I fear the 2nd coming of Apple's watch, rather than software tweak, will have perfected the double click to Apple Pay.

Uunless they redesign that side button there is always going to a problem unless they change the software to allow for a different way to trigger Apple Pay. That button is a very small target and allows a lot of errors in getting the presses correct. My concern is that very few people have a problem with it. Neither my wife nor any of my friends whom I asked to try it had any problems. I started a thread on my problems last June and got almost no responses that confirmed an issue. Almost everyone stated they didn't have an issue and advising "click faster" which as we know doesn't work for some of us.

I've gotten it to work perfectly now and I'm only seeing a few here mention the issue so I'm not certain Apple will pay any attention.
