my noise gate option is grayed out after garage band update

I just did the automatic update to garage band and now my noise gate option is grayed out for any new project...if I go into an old project it still lets me use it

This question was asked and answered before. You have to load the Noise Gate Plugin first

I get that from your original post which was very helpful, however I tried to load the noise gate plugin and there's nothing in the folder - where do I get the plugin?

Thanks

The Plugins listed in the Plugin Menus are propriatary Logic/GarageBand Plugins that are embedded in the app. You cannot see them in any folder. Maybe you are referring to the Plugin-Settings folder. Each Plugin has a folder (with the name of the Plugin) that stores the settings, like presets)

IN the Smart Controls window, click on one of the Plugin Slots that opens the Plugin Menu, and under the Dynamics subfolder, there should be the Noise Gate Plugin. Select it, and it loads, and activates the two controls above. Please note that only an Audio Track will list those two controls on the Inspector (on/off checkbox and Threshold slider), not the Software Instrument Track.
