TITLE>SuccessSuccess

Today, for the first time, a box has been popping up every three minutes, approximately, with my WiFi name up the top, then <HTML><HEAD>TITLE>Success</TITLE></HEAD><BODY>Success</BODY></HTML> in an otherwise blank box, then down the very bottom the web address: http://www.apple.com/library/test/success.html Nothing else has changed or been updated or installed. What’s going on and how do I stop it? I noticed that someone had this problem last year but the circumstances are different to mine (no cordless phones in the house other than mobiles. One landline, with cord, next to the WiFi but not directly connected to it. Been there for several months already with no issues). THanks in advance for your help - this message is making me nervous and frustrated! Cheers, Nerida

There is an ongoing problem about connecting to wifi, where a page pops up containing some visible HTML code and the word 'Success'.

It looks like a mess-up at Apple's end. For a start-off someone has pasted the code into a web page creation program as if it was content instead of into a code editor. I don't know whether this is why the page is suddenly appearing - it's affecting a lot of people on iOS and Mavericks though I don't see it on Snow Leopard (I did when I changed my Mavericks iMac to use Wifi instead of Ethernet).

The page is apparently checked when a wifi connection is successful, but it shouldn't actually appear. Possibly the checking process expects to see the word 'Success' as the first text, which at present it isn't. It looks like something only Apple can sort out.

In the meantime temporary fixes have been suggested. Some versions of iOS may be able to turn off 'Auto Login' as in this, quoted from 'Yahoo Answers':

Go to SETTINGS next to your networks name there's a blue arrow click on that ... now

turn ON auto-join and

turn OFF auto-log in

(I'm not in a position to test this but a number of people have reported success.)

As to Mavericks, Wyrmfire has suggested a temporary fix:

Again, being on Ethernet I've not tried this but some people have reported success.

Thanks everyone! I'm super impressed by how quick to respond and how helpful you have all been. Roger Wilmut - how do you know so much? Amazing! Without doing anything at all, I fortunately haven't had that message pop up at all today so hopefully all is well with my computer. Did the messages simply stop for the others out there who were experiencing the same thing? I wish I could help other people out but IT is definitely not my area of expertise so I'm sorry that I can't give back to the community. Thanks again and all the best.
