The Troll sez:

ok - MACS suck. they do not HAVE right
click!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Read your manual... Several ways of having a right-click. Just as the earlier messages said, two fingers on the pad and then thumb-click the pad button, with the fingers remaining on the pad, or hold the pad button for a second or so.

One can also configure the pad to act as a scrolling device, again, with the two fingers on the pad. This is all covered in the manual.

Finally, any USB mouse works marvelously with the Mac and the Mac automatically recognizes the right mouse button, typically with no mouse driver software for that mouse being installed.

And ultimately, the Mighty Mouse as was mentioned earlier. Right click works great. But, using just the track pad, the right click is there, just that there is no stinkin' right-click button on the pad switching assembly.

By the way, the Mighty Mouse works great with Windows machines as well, although I haven't tried the BlueTooth MightyMouse on a PC.

Windows: (Pros) Lots and LOTS of software out there. Over all if you want the best compatability, love it or hate it, Windows. PC gaming really is a Windows thing. It is just a much bigger market. Over rall the hardware is very inexpensive. A lot more flexability as to the hardware in your machine (THis is very important to me). Over all, easier to expand.
(Cons) But because it is the majority it is also the target. Countless viruses and scams take advantage of niave Windows users. Some would call Microsoft a con, others would not. The flexability of hardware in a way is the PC's own undoing. Windows has to be designed to run on an almost unlimited combination of hardware, meaning that it is very hard to get a consitant experience. One laptop or desktop may hybernate OK, but not sleep. Things like that. Very minited out of the box software.

Macintosh:(Pros)One company, one configuration. This leads to a very streamlined interface where everything works very well together. With a mac, if I say "I have a Black Macbook", your average Mac Geek will know exactly what is in that laptop. This limited configuration allowes for a much more consistant experience, even during this era of Universal Binaries. The laptop also seems durable. Generally huge imporvements every time a new version of OSX comes out. Simply elegant user interface. Darwin (Yeah Unix Woooo)! Out of the box software is almost all most users will ever need! Huge Opensource community. If you need to, you can run Windows on a Mac & nearly real time VM's are fast approaching). Apple is also the only company I have seen truely embrace the new tech that is going to make computers WAY faster. All the softweare it comes with is optimized for milti-core and full 64bit is coming in 10.5.
(Cons)One company, one configuration. (Yes I list this in both. The limited number of configurations locks you in to some extent, but this has gotten better on the Intel Macs.) Some would call the design of some macs boring, others clean, others, elegant. A negative side effect of a limited number of configurations means some kind of problem can effect a large percentage of users. eg: MacBook Pro Whine, & over heating, MacBook discoloration, Macbook random shutdowns, MacBook wireless issues is 10.4.8 .. Things like that. Expensive hardware (Somewhat offset by all the cool software it comes with, high end macs are seriously expensive). A more limited software library. Limited gaming library.

Anyway I own a Windows Desktop I use mainly for gaming & I have my MacBook, they seem to get along. I could go on and on about this, but I just do not have time. I hope this helps and please forgive the many spelling errors.

It's a bit of a myth that the only reason Windows has more viruses is because it is targeted more often. The Windows registry implimentation is inherently flawed and far more vulnerable to attack than OS X or Unix or pretty much any other operating system.
