iTunes 12.2.1.16 access privileges issue

Since upgrading to 12.2.1.16 I am getting the error message "You do not have enough access privileges for this operation" and I cannot sync my old iPhone with music.

Looking at the system.log I can see the following error -

Jul 16 13:34:39 <macname> com.apple.xpc.launchd[1] (com.apple.xpc.launchd.domain.pid.MediaLibraryService.1007): Path not allowed in target domain: type = pid, path = /Library/Frameworks/iTunesLibrary.framework/Versions/A/XPCServices/com.apple.iT unesLibraryService.xpc error = 147: The specified service did not ship in the requestor's bundle, origin = /System/Library/Frameworks/MediaLibrary.framework/Versions/A/XPCServices/com.ap ple.MediaLibraryService.xpc

Jul 16 13:34:39 --- last message repeated 1 time ---

I've tried removing (from command line) and reinstalling iTunes from scratch but no luck.

Anyone else had this and managed to fix it?

Solved!

The problem was there was no Shared directory.

I had created a user called Shared as a test, unaware that there was already a Shared directory under Users. I later deleted the user and directory assuming that I had created the directory with the user.

The error messages for this were really poor! If it just said "Shared directory missing" I would have fixed this a lot faster.

Hope this helps someone else at some point.

Hi,

It could be a permissions issue. If you ctrl-click on the Shared folder check that it is read and write permissions for all - there is a more in depth discussion of permissions at this site - http://www.macinstruct.com/node/415

There also seems to be a slightly different issue with disk wide permissions talked about here - "You do not have enough access privileges for this operation." error, even after I have set permissions in ~/Music/iTunes and /Shared

Hope that helps!
