manually manage music no longer available

Hi, I just upgraded iPhone 5s and Macbook Pro to latest OS and finding that the "manually manage music & videos" option in iTunes now only shows "manually manage videos". I was previously syncing specific playlists to my iPhone but now seem to have lost control over what music I can sync. I have iTunes Match disabled and was previously not using iCloud although I have had to turn this on in order to try Apple Music - I'm guessing maybe this has something to do with it? Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks

Hi,

I had originally started to reply to you to tell you I was having exactly the same issue. While I was writing, I've managed to get my manual management back. First of all I tried switching off the iCloud Music Library and Apple Music selections in the iTunes preferences. iTunes was still telling me that iCloud Music Library was on and to sync from this.

Eventually the penny dropped and I realised that the iCloud Music Library is also enabled in the iPhone>Settings>Music menu. Once I had deselected this and disconnected/reconnected the phone from my iMac, the manual sync is once again available...Playlists, Artists e.t.c.

Hi,

Further to my last message, you need to have iCloud Music Library enabled on your iPhone to listen to subscription Apple Music. I thought that once it was downloaded for off-line play on my iMac I could add it to my iPhone in the normal way as part of a playlist. This is not the case. You either have iCloud Music Library enabled on your iPhone and enjoy Apple Music or you keep it disabled to continue with your manual management as I do. Or you do without and sync from the cloud. Oh well....
