Will my AT&T iPhone 6 (model A1549) work in Germany and Greece?

I have an AT&T iPhone 6, model A1549, and my understanding, according to Apple's LTE compatibility page, is that the A1586 model is the handset compatible with most European LTE networks. My question is, if I use AT&T's Passport service to receive coverage while traveling through Europe (particularly Germany and Greece, where the carriage partner is Vodafone), will my phone not receive any signal at all, or will it merely drop down to 3G speeds? I can handle not having LTE for a few days, but obviously having no data coverage at all is a dealbreaker. Any knowledge/insights would be deeply appreciated. Thank you.

American carriers are so expensive to go abroad.

It may be better to get the phone internationally unlocked and get a SIM card in the countries you're going to visit.

As far as compatibility, you should be ok, otherwise 3G is your best bet.

Thanks for your response. 🙂 Cost isn't really an issue in this instance, I'm more concerned with convenience. I just want to turn my phone on in Europe and have it just work the way it normally does with minimal fiddling ... so I'm willing to use AT&T's international plan as long as it actually works. Vodafone apparently uses Band 3 for LTE in Greece (as does T-Mobile, another AT&T partner abroad, in Germany). My iPhone model supports Band 3. Does this mean it will have LTE coverage after all? This is all so confusing.

ask your carrier, much of europe use different frequencies so that would obviously not work

Thanks, I definitely will follow up with AT&T but I was hoping someone in this forum might have some anecdotal insight into the matter since AT&T reps aren't always comprehensivelay knowledgable about Apple hardware. 😎
