PowerPoint viewer for Mac OS X?

Members of my political group keep sending me PP (PowerPoint) presentations.
QUESTION: Is there a PowerPoint viewer that works with Macintosh OS X? (From what I see, the answer is NO, but sometimes I miss things.)

I have OS 10.4.7. Thanks a lot.

I assume that you do not have Microsoft Office over
there, Lorna....

Try this java-application....

Haven't tried it myself....but it's free and it is
very recent and it is crossplatform.

Looks promising! Let me know how it goes!

James hi 🙂
Let's say that it works! 🙂 OK, then I download it and install it and get it opened up. Then, how do I see the PP presentation? What series of clicks? (Remember that I only just learned howt to "open things up" in Text Edit! (Those .js files.)

Is it that I click onto PP reader, and then, when it is opened up, I go up to the File section at top left and click "OPEN" and then click onto the PP presentation? Or is it the opposite?

AND THANK YOU AGAIN FOR ALL THAT YOU HAVE DONE.

Edit out. I discovered which one to download. I misread the second line; it is not an option. Lorna in Southern California

Lorna, I'm assuming that this path will lead you to
success.

OK. Which one do I download????

Edit: I re-read the second line in that section and I know now which one to download. -Lorna

Keynote also works fine - it's part of the iWork 06
package - if it's not already in your Applications
it's on the iLife installer disk.

You get a free 30-day tria, but even after that you
can still open Powerpoint files, it just won't let
you save or print them.

; )

Say............ I never did notice that iWork application!! Thanks for the Heads Up, Peelie. 🙂

There's also this.

http://www.microsoft.com/mac/downloads.aspx?pid=downlo
ad&location=/mac/download/office98/powerpoint98viewer.
xml&secid=20&ssid=7&flgnosysreq=False

Not sure if it's able to open the lastest docs, but
might still be good in a pinch if the other viewer
doesn't work for a particular presentation.

Kyn, Hi! 🙂
Look at this cut and paste from that site: •
System Requirements for Using PowerPoint 98 Viewer:
To use PowerPoint 98 or Office 98, you need:
• Any PowerPC processor-based, Mac OS-compatible system.
• Apple System 7.5.5 to 9.x.

I am suspecting that since it was printed in 2004, and it says that it is good for "any PPC, MacOS-compatible system", it MIGHT NOT cover Tiger. And since Tonic Point works fine, I am going to stick with it. However, the downside to Tonic Point is also that I cannot print out the document that is shown. 8-(
