PowerPoint viewer for Mac OS X?

I'd guess there'll definitely be an iWork 07 out at
the same time as iLife 07, but heck if we always
waited for the next version of any Apple product to
come out we'd never buy anything! If you can afford
it go for it - buy yourself an early Christmas
present!

But Peelie, if one can know for sure that iLife '07 (with probably loads of improvements) is coming out, then I can wait. I just want to know that it IS. And hopefully, it would come out in January rather than June '07.

As far as storage goes, I would ALWAYS keep my
programs in Applications or Utilities folder on my
Boot drive, current work in a Job folder on my Boot
drive, and use my external as storage for archived
documents and projects.

OK, this looks like a variation from what I heard in the past.
I do intend to keep my applications and utilities etc in my internal hard drive (that which you call your Boot Drive).

But where you talk about keeping current work as opposed to archived work, my legs start to wobble, because that means that it's going to be on ME to do those transfers manually after I decide that something is no longer current.

Is it not true that Macintosh is a big huge brain, and it knows where to grab things, whether those things be in the internal hard drive or the external one?

Not saying this way is absolutely necessary, I just
have a gut feeling that my Mac will operate much more
happily with things it can find in regular places.

Let's see if anybody agrees or disagrees with me -
maybe I've been doing it wrong all these years ...

Re storage - have you thought about adding more RAM?
i know iLife recommends at least 512MB, but I always
think you can't have too much, particularly if you
tend to have a few Applications open at the same
time.

OK. I am all for having sufficient RAM so that working with different windows open is faster with sufficient RAM. Are you thinking that my 758 MB of RAM might be insufficient?

BTW: Sidebar: I have nothing against paying for more RAM but carrying my iMac in to the Apple Store is very difficult if not (for me with my bad back) impossible.

Peelie, when I clicked to Serial-ATA, the readout in the resultant screen said: NO IMFORMATION FOUND. So the info must be somewhere else. I can't imagine that it would be there underneath the HD logo on the Desktop but not in a listing of system information in the Apple logo click-on. I really could use a Danish pastry right now.

I should have clarified that even though I save my
current work to my Boot Drive, I do regularly back up
all my current work to the External Drive.

OH, that's right. I DO have regular back-ups every early morning with my iDisk > Backup. But..... it seems simpler to have everything to just save into the external HD

So, if you get Keypoint and Pages, you are going to set those applications/programs to save in your internal/boot drive? OK. And Kyn, external.

Someday if I write a book about this iWeb forum I will quote Peelie as saying, "Save work onto your boot drive!" <she said, kiddingly>

First, I think there's a goooood chance of iWork '07
happening. No, I don't know anyone anywhere
important, it's just that updating Pages and Keynote
gives them another few bullet points to pad out the
presentation 🙂

See, that's what is so irksome about these updates and upgrades bla bla bla bla bla....... You buy the new version and you get a few extra bullets or a new improved icon and maybe one significantly improved function. You can get bled dry in bits and drabs. It would be more humane and ethically more proper to wait until there is a significant quality and quantity of changes, and THEN drop the new version upon us and scare us all to h--l if we don't rush out and buy it.

But on the other hand - have you seen the cost of
Microsoft Office, and their upgrade prices?

At least with Apple software you're only bled dry in
bits and drabs, rather than being hit full in the
face with a baseball bat once every couple of years.

OK, iWork '06 costs $79, which is probably less than Microsoft Office. But citing a yet-worse evil does not diminish the fact of the comparatively littler evil. Of course, you watch iWork '07 come to us with tons of new improvements, functionalities, and finesse actions. Let's hope....
